Garden

GardenDear Community,

I am pleased to highlight the excellent instructional practice demonstrated by Mr. Garfield in his recent third-grade garden lesson. He thoughtfully integrated mathematics standards, specifically area and perimeter, with practical gardening activities. By connecting classroom concepts directly to real-world garden situations, students gained a deeper and more tangible understanding of these essential math skills.

Students worked collaboratively in small groups to measure garden beds and calculate how many plants could be planted per square foot, effectively applying mathematical concepts to authentic situations. This engaging, hands-on approach significantly enhanced student learning and promoted peer-to-peer collaboration.

Thank you, Mr. Garfield, for your dedication and creativity in providing such meaningful, interdisciplinary learning experiences for our students.

Warm regards,

Dr. Amy Alzina
