The Cold Spring Garden evolved from the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to address the social-emotional needs of students. The parents, community, Santa Barbara Beautiful, and the City of Santa Barbara have been valuable partners. Christian Garfield, the garden educator, works in collaboration with classroom and specialist teachers to create highly engaging lessons that address the needs of the whole child. Together, we are addressing the social-emotional needs of our students as well as nutrition, health, plant biology, life cycles, and agriculture. The community garden is open to public afterschool and on weekends to enjoy.
