I am thrilled to share the incredible math lesson our fourth grade children experienced last week with Mrs. Gomez!! Her dedication to engaging and supporting students in their learning was truly exceptional, and I want to take a moment to recognize the outstanding teaching happening in her classroom.
In this lesson, Mrs. Gomez designed real-world math word problems tailored specifically to your child’s interests and activities—whether it was sports, hobbies, or everyday experiences using AI. She even incorporated students' names into the problems, making math feel meaningful and relatable. This approach kept students highly engaged while strengthening their problem-solving skills.
She also provided small group instruction to ensure every student received the support they needed, while others worked independently on the Renaissance Learning adaptive learning Freckle platform, reinforcing their learning. Students used interactive technology, whiteboards, and exit tickets to show their understanding, allowing Mrs. Gomez to adjust her teaching in real time based on their needs.
What stood out most was her ability to encourage multiple problem-solving approaches, giving students the opportunity to share their thinking and learn from one another. She created a classroom environment where students felt confident, supported, and challenged—exactly what we want for our learners!
