CAASPP Testing: Third Through Sixth Grade
The third through sixth-grade students continue to take the CAASPP assessment through the end of May. Please make sure your child comes prepared to do their best by getting a good night's sleep the night before and eating a nutritious breakfast.
Art Fair and Early Dismissal: Thursday, May 16th, 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Come celebrate the students' artwork and the end of the year open house with the annual Art Fair! All of the classrooms will be open to walk-through from 5:00 PM-6:00 PM. Bring a picnic and enjoy music from 6:00 PM-7:00 PM on the playground.
Early Dismissal for the Art Fair:
Kindergarten: 12:30 PM
Very Important Note: Dolphin Center is available after dismissal but will close early at 4:00 PM due to the Art Fair. Because the Art Fair set up will be happening between dismissal and 5 pm, we ask that the Dolphin Center is reserved for families that are unable to pick up their child at the early dismissal time. Thank you!
Memorial Day, Monday, May 27th - No School
School is closed on Monday, May 27th to celebrate Memorial Day.
All School Beach Day at the Miramar Beach: Wednesday, June 5th from 9:30 AM - 1:30 PM
The Annual School Beach Day is Wednesday, June 5th. Teachers will be sending out information including a request for volunteer parent drivers/chaperones and a permission slip for student participation. This is a fun event for our students and a great way to celebrate their year of hard work! More information coming soon...
Board Meeting Highlights from the May 13 Board Meeting Regular Session
Dr. Alzina recognized teachers and staff in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week.
Dr. Alzina thanked Ms. DiSalvo for a wonderful Spring Sing. She announced the upcoming play, Beauty and the Beast on May 29 and May 30 at 6:00 PM.
Dr. Alzina recognized Zoe Copus for organizing the Move-a-thon.
Dr. Alzina recognized Melissa McCann and the Cold Spring Foundation for organizing the Spring Fundraiser Event. The Cold Spring School Foundation donated $275,000 to the school. The Board accepted the Donation.
Dr. Alzina gave a presentation on Project Based Learning. She highlighted two critical standards that were met by doing this project for the 6th grade students: calculating the surface area of a triangular prism.
Dr. Alzina announced the Art Fair event on Thursday, May 16 and the All Santa Barbara School Track and Field Meet on May 24.
Roy Lee, Santa Barbara Supervisor will be coming to Cold Spring School on June 8 at 10 AM to meet with the community. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The Montecito Association will hold their Board meeting in the Cold Spring School Auditorium on Tuesday, May 14 at 4 PM.
Cora Bergakker and Wyatt Wooten, 4th grade students, presented the 4th grade field trip to the State Capitol to the Board. This field trip was partially funded by the Expanded Learning Opportunities Grant.
The Board approved the Order of Election for the upcoming School Board election in November.
The Board approved a free virtual counseling service resource for our community through the Cook Center for Human Connection.
Cold Spring School and Leader in Me will be hosting a High School Leadership Institute in June.
The Board approved Resolution 2023-24/08 to finalize and dissolve the Measure C Bond Oversight Committee.
