Back-to-School Night: Wednesday, August 30th, beginning at 6 PM - 7:30 PM.  All parents (adults only) are encouraged to attend our annual Back-to-School Night on Wednesday, August 30th beginning at 6 PM.  I will introduce this year’s staff and share how we are continuing to work towards achieving our three priority goals.  My presentation will be followed by a visit to your child’s/children’s classroom(s) where every teacher will be presenting his/her year-long plans and goals for your child. If you have more than one child, we ask that you divide your time between the classrooms.

The following is the Agenda for Back-to-School night:

Important District Residency Information The beginning of the school year is an exciting time for all.  We are fortunate to have a great group of new families joining our community this year.  As we start school, I have received a number of questions about the residency requirements for attending the Cold Spring School.  I also realize that the housing market has created some conditions that make it desirable for those of us living in the community to consider renting our homes over the summer months.

Please note that California law and our District Board Policy requires that you live/reside in your home within the boundaries of the Cold Spring School District in order to attend the school.  If you do not reside within the District boundaries, you cannot attend Cold Spring School.  You must attend the school where you reside.  Per our Policies, I am not authorized to make any exceptions to this rule.

If you move during the school year, you must provide the District notice of your move within 5 days of the move.  This includes moves that are temporary in nature.  Once notice is provided, the Governing Board may consider the circumstances of your move for purposes of a waiver for a temporary absence from the district.  However, they are under no obligation to approve or grant the waiver.  Please understand that attendance at our school is in high demand.  Each year, many families request transfers and are denied.  As the school administration, we are required to review reports of families living outside of the District.  If we discover a family has moved out of the District and has failed to provide us notice, we are required to un-enroll the students from school and direct the family to enroll in the school district where they reside.  Every school district across California has the same requirements regarding residency.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter.  We remain committed to providing the best possible education for our students.  If you have any questions or need further clarification, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly.
