STUDENT ART WORK DISPLAYED

Fia, Poppy, Madeline, Georgia, Ingrid, Nicholas, Amelia and Sami all had their art work displayed at the Natural History Museum Art Walk this past weekend!Congratulations, Artists! Every year Cold Spring School is given 8 spots in the Art Walk. According to Mrs. O’Neill, “The students were chosen for their exceptional skill and talent as well as their excellent citizenship in the art room, hard work and passion.”

SPORTS HELMET DISTRIBUTION

COAST’s Safe Routes to School representatives will be on campus to distribute low-cost (high quality) bike safety helmets. California law states that children under 18 must wear a helmet when riding skateboards, scooters, bikes, etc. They will be at Cold Spring School:

Tuesday, October 3rd, after school

(1:45pm-3:30pm)

Cold Spring School Gazebo

If your child already has a helmet, you can bring your child and the helmet to this event and we will make sure the helmet fits properly.

Helmets require a minimum $10.00 donation. (These helmets sell retail for $40.00) Additional donation is appreciated and goes directly into purchasing more helmets for this program. If parents will not be with their children, we must have the slip below completed and returned to us at the time of the event.  This service is provided to ensure that all children have a safe, quality helmet.

CONGRATULATIONS TO DR. JEAN GRADIAS!

Our very own STEAM Teacher/Science TOSA defended her dissertation last weekend before her committee congratulated her with Dr. Jean Gradias! Dr. Gradias eared her doctorate degree in Education Leadership from Fielding University. We are going to celebrate all things great about Dr. Gradias this Friday during our morning assembly and at lunch recess. I am encouraging all the students to bring a tool (hammer, screwdriver, wrench, etc…) instead of flowers to donate to the STEAM room. Let’s shower Dr. Gradias with lots of love and tools!

INTERNATIONAL WALK TO SCHOOL DAY

The entire Cold Spring community is encouraged to walk to school on Wednesday, October 4th in recognition of International Walk to School Day.

DOLPHINS WIN THEIR FIRST FOOTBALL GAME

Thanks to some great coaching and teamwork, the Cold Spring School football team squeezed past the Monroe Mustangs last Friday night with a 12-6 victory! The Dolphins play the Franklin Eagles this Friday at Franklin Elementary School at 3:30pm. Go Dolphins and coach Orr!

COLD SPRING BOARD OF TRUSTEES OFFICE HOURS

The Governing Board recognizes the value of promoting the accessibility of Board members to the public. The Board believes that implementing regular, open-door meetings with community members will contribute to a climate of trust as well as respectful, constructive communication. The Brown Act allows for no more than two Board members to be present together for such open-door meetings. Leslie Kneafsey and Jen Miller, will be available on Friday, October 6th from 8-8:30am in room 11 to meet with any parents or community members. Board members are further restricted from communicating any information received during the community meeting to any other member of the Board outside of a properly called meeting of the Governing Board. Further, no Board actions will be taken nor decisions made during these meetings.

The Purpose of Board Office Hours

•To allow Governing Board members to engage with the community in a setting outside of a Board meeting.

•To facilitate the respectful, constructive communication of community input regarding the District’s educational policy responsibilities and decisions.

Save the Date: Our next School Board Meeting is Monday, October 9th at 6pm in the auditorium.
